Preah Vihear Launches New Rubber Processing Plant
AKP Phnom Penh, January 30, 2025 --
Preah Vihear province launches a new natural rubber processing plant, prevailing new markets for the resource, livelihood opportunities, and ecological balance.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Civil Service H.E. Hun Many chaired the inauguration of the rubber processing plant, operated by domestic investor Try Pheap Import Export Co. Ltd., on Jan. 28.
Strongly supporting the investment, the deputy prime minister highlighted that the plant contributes to further diversifying the market for Cambodia's natural rubber.
The plant that will input rubber from trees grown on concessional land does not only create income generation opportunities for the local as well as workers at the factory but also contributes to increasing forest cover to help balance ecology in Cambodia, he added.
Addressing the event, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries H.E. Dith Tina acknowledged the indispensable role of the private sector, like the Try Pheap Group, in leveraging agricultural development and livelihoods.
Preah Vihear Provincial Governor H.E. Kim Rithy thanked the deputy prime minister, the minister, as well as the investor for supporting the processing plant, which he believes will greatly promote the local economy and lives of the residents in his province.
Along with the investment, the Try Pheap Group also develops infrastructure and facilities such as roads, community, school, market, pagoda, and health centre to support the workers at the plants and nearby residents.
