Pchum Ben Festival Records 2.16 Million Tourist Trips
AKP Phnom Penh, October 13, 2026 -- The Pchum Ben Festival was ended on Monday recording 2.16 million tourism trips nationwide, a report from the Ministry of Tourism showed on Oct. 13.
“Some 2.16 million tourist trips were made by domestic and international tourist across Cambodia during the three-day Pchum Ben holiday from Oct. 10-12,” stated the report.
The number represents a 0.8 percent increase compared to the same holiday last year, it pointed out, adding that of the total, 24,343 were foreign visitors.
Siem Reap province recorded the highest number of visitors with 256,715, followed by Kampot (224,860), Preah Sihanouk (195,994), Kampong Chhnang (168,016), and Kampong Cham (165,272).
For Cambodia, Pchum Ben or Festival for the Dead is not merely a festival on the national calendar. It is a living expression of Khmer identity – a sacred tradition that unites faith, family and community while keeping the memory of generations past alive in the hearts of those who follow.
