Cambodia, Germany and Saudi Arabia Discuss Trade and Investment Opportunities

Cambodia is seeking to further expand economic and trade cooperation with Germany and Saudi Arabia, with particular attention to bilateral trade, investment, business connectivity and market access.
Minister of Commerce H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul held separate meetings with the German and Saudi Arabian ambassadors to Cambodia on Oct. 6 at the Ministry of Commerce to discuss opportunities for strengthening bilateral economic and trade relations.
During her meeting with H.E. Ms. Silke Röfer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Cambodia, the Minister discussed ways to promote bilateral trade, attract investment and strengthen connections between the business communities of the two countries.
The two sides also highlighted the importance of consumer protection and greater participation of Cambodian small and medium-sized enterprises in global value chains, as well as strengthening production capacity and compliance with international standards.
They discussed enhancing the competitiveness of Cambodian products to facilitate greater access to the European Union and other international markets.
The German side has continued to support Cambodia through technical assistance and capacity-building programmes, particularly in strengthening export support service providers and improving product quality in line with international standards.
In a separate meeting with H.E. Thamer Mohammed A. Algosaibi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Saudi Arabia to Cambodia, marking the beginning of his diplomatic mission, H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul outlined Cambodia’s efforts to improve the business environment and facilitate networking among private-sector stakeholders.
The Minister also highlighted opportunities for investment and business cooperation between the two countries, while the Saudi ambassador inquired about procedures for starting investments in Cambodia and expressed interest in participating in the Cambodia Trade Expo (CTExpo) and other related events.
Both sides also pledged to continue effectively implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Trade Relations between the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce and the Saudi General Authority of Foreign Trade.
