AKP Phnom Penh, August 18, 2026 --
The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and iFLYTEK, a prominent Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) and information technology company, have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in digital transformation.
The discussion took place during a meeting on Aug. 17 between H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the CDC, and Mr. Fang Ming, Vice President of iFLYTEK.
The meeting was attended by members of the management of the CDC’s General Secretariat and Cambodian Investment Board (CIB), as well as relevant officials.
H.E. Sun Chanthol warmly welcomed the iFLYTEK delegation and recalled the fruitful exchanges between the two sides during the Cambodia Investment Seminar held in Beijing on June 27, 2026.
For his part, Mr. Fang Ming briefed H.E. Sun Chanthol on iFLYTEK’s background, expertise, operations and international cooperation projects.
H.E. Sun Chanthol highlighted the growing global adoption of AI technologies to enhance efficiency, productivity and operational performance in both the public and private sectors.
To translate the potential of AI into concrete cooperation, he encouraged the iFLYTEK delegation to engage with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and relevant technical institutions of the Royal Government to explore feasible and mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.
The iFLYTEK delegation also shared its observations following its visit to Phnom Penh, noting Cambodia’s peace, stability, rapid development and favourable investment environment.
The company representatives said these realities differed markedly from some negative reports about Cambodia circulated previously and expressed their strong commitment to maintaining close cooperation with the Cambodian side to contribute to the Kingdom’s digital transformation.
