AKP Phnom Penh, August 7, 2026 -- The United States and Cambodia are seeking to expand defence cooperation to enhance bilateral military ties and bolster security across the Indo-Pacific region, the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh said Friday.

During a visit to the embassy, Adm. Steve Koehler, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, met with U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Aleks Zittle to discuss ways Washington can support and strengthen military-to-military engagement with Cambodia.

The embassy stated that both nations are working to forge a stronger relationship aimed at enhancing bilateral armed forces cooperation, supporting regional stability, and contributing to a secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
