DPM Prak Sokhonn Commends German Ambassador’s Contributions to Strengthening Bilateral Ties
AKP Phnom Penh, July 29, 2026 --
H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Wednesday received a farewell call from H.E. Stefan Messerer, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cambodia, upon the successful completion of his diplomatic mission in the Kingdom.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn commended the Ambassador for his dedicated efforts to deepen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Germany for the mutual benefit and prosperity of both peoples.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed his readiness to extend the same support to the Ambassador’s successor to further strengthen bilateral relations and elevate the partnership between the two countries to new heights.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to expand cooperation in priority areas, including trade and investment, education, agriculture, agro-industry, energy, tourism and people-to-people exchanges, with an emphasis on high-level exchanges achieved during Ambassador Messerer’s tenure.
They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, underscoring the importance of upholding international law and supporting diplomatic approaches to the peaceful settlement of disputes.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn also briefed the German Ambassador on the latest developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.
Following the farewell meeting, H.E. Prak Sokhonn hosted a luncheon in honour of H.E. Stefan Messerer in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
