Cambodian Agriculture Minister Meets Lao Prime Minister to Advance Agricultural Cooperation

Cambodia and Laos have committed to strengthening agricultural cooperation and expanding opportunities for agricultural trade and regional connectivity.
The commitment was reaffirmed during a courtesy meeting in Vientiane, Laos on the afternoon of June 23 between H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia, and H.E. Dr. Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
During the meeting, Minister Dith Tina conveyed warm greetings from Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to the Lao Prime Minister.
The Cambodian Minister briefed the Lao side on the outcomes of recent bilateral discussions between the agriculture ministries of the two countries, highlighting key priorities including expanding agricultural trade, promoting private sector matching, and enhancing cooperation to facilitate exports to the Chinese market through transport routes via Laos.
Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressed appreciation for the greetings from Cambodia’s Prime Minister and highly valued the longstanding cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.
He also encouraged both agriculture ministries to strengthen collaboration in implementing joint conservation projects aimed at ensuring the sustainable management of forests and wildlife resources.
According to the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, H.E. Dith Tina led a high-level delegation to pay an official visit to Laos, aiming to deepen and broaden bilateral cooperation in agriculture, promote exports of Cambodia’s priority agricultural products to international markets, strengthen conservation initiatives, and explore opportunities to improve supply linkages for agricultural production inputs, including fertilisers from Laos to Cambodia.
