PM Calls for Double Attention to COVID-19 Pandemic despite No New Case Found for 12 Consecutive Days
AKP Phnom Penh, April 24, 2020 --
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has appealed to his compatriots to double their attention to COVID-19 pandemic despite zero new infection case in the last 12 days along with high recovered rate.
“In the past few days, even though in our country the infection rate was not as high as in other countries, and the number of cured patients has been increasing, we must double our attention,” said the Premier in a Facebook post this morning.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen noted crowded roads after no new confirmed case has been reported in the last 12 days, and thus reminded people to follow the preventive norms strictly because there is no drug to treat this infectious disease yet.
"If not necessary, please don’t go out or go to a crowded area, let alone the family head or the one who has to do so," he underlined. "Please turn your worries and fears into your high attention everyday by living hygienically for good health and longevity."
According to a press release of the Ministry of Health issued this morning, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cambodia remains at 122 for 12 days in a row, while the total recovered cases is at 110.
Since the first case detected in Preah Sihanouk province in late January, the COVID-19 pandemic has now hit 13 provinces and capital of Cambodia.
According to World Health Organisation, As of 2:00am CEST, April 23, 2020, there have been 2,549,632 confirmed cases of COVID-19 globally, of which 36,819 in South East Asia.
