Inspiring Forest Communities to Foster Conservation Work

Ministry of Environment is establishing a project of “community exhibition” to further improve people’s living condition and promote natural resource conservation.
The information was revealed in a meeting of a working group in charge of community exhibition organising project, chaired by H.E. Ms. Mom Thany, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment here in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
The working group of the community exhibition project is assigned for the monitoring of information collection, documentation of communities’ potentials, and vocational training provision.
They are supposed to also encourage communities’ people to work for achievements and improve their careers and products for the market and the upcoming exposition, underlined Mr. Seng Soat, Deputy Director General of Local Community.
According to H.E. Ms. Mom Thany, the community exhibition project will play a crucial role not only in enhancing people’s living standard, but also in increasing intimate cooperation between people of communities and concerned partners on work of preservation of natural resources, biodiversity and indigenous cultures.
The community exhibition will be piloted at 17 natural protection areas in Kampong Thom province in a near future.
