US$4.5 Million of National Budget Spent on Covid-19 Prevention

Ministry of Health has spent approximately US$4.5 million on prevention of Covid-19 pandemic by far.
The information was shared by H.E. Ms. Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health in a recent press conference here in Phnom Penh, adding that the expenditure focused on purchases of medical supplies and facilities for hospitals in the 25 capital and provinces of Cambodia.
H.E. Ms. Yuok Sambath continued that the amount – against the total budget of US$6 million requested by the Ministry of Health – derives from the national budget.
Along with the national budget, the government has mobilised about US$13 million from domestic donors, and US$6 million of which has been used to cover the treatment of the Covid-19 patients and testing of Cambodian workers for the virus.
As of this morning, Cambodia has recorded a total of 122 COVID-19 positive cases, and 110 of them have been cured.
Since the first case identified in Preah Sihanouk province in late January, the COVID-19 has now affected 13 capital and provinces of Cambodia.
