Cambodian PM Keeps Calling for High Attention to COVID-19 Pandemic

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen continued to urge his compatriots to pay attention to COVID-19 pandemic as the global infection cases keep increasing dramatically.
The Premier made the appeal in his message to his compatriots on the Khmer New Year to fall this year from April 13 to 16.
In his seven-page message, Samdech Techo Hun Sen emphasised that to face the consequences caused by COVID-19, the Royal Government of Cambodia has taken necessary measures and urgent responses to maintain macroeconomic stability and ease the burden of those working in the affected sectors such as tourism and clothing, footwear and bag industry.
The Royal Government has decided to temporarily close down state and private education institutions at all levels, ban concerts, religious gatherings, and shut down cinemas, adult entertainment clubs and KTVs, and so on to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also mentioned about the establishment of the National Committee for Combating COVID-19 chaired by himself and a volunteer medical group. The Royal Government has instructed all provinces and capital to convert some state and private buildings including schools and hotels into temporary hospitals for COVID-19 patients.
The Royal Government took the opportunity to appeal to all compatriots to continue strictly applying their personal, family and community hygiene norms, cooperate with competent authorities at all levels, and believe in its capacity and measures in combating the pandemic, he added.
“The Royal Government is strongly convinced that we will be able to overcome this difficult time in the near future,” underlined Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
