Ruling CPP Committed to Join Global Fight against COVID-19

The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has expressed its strong determination to take part in combating COVID-19 pandemic and minimising social crisis.
“As an active political party in the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP), CPP is firmly committed to participate with other member political parties in the fight against the pandemic and the reduction of social crisis such as fears and panic. CPP strongly believes in multilateralism which is open and inclusive, and global partnership to build a community of shared prosperity by sticking to the universal values of humanity through mutual trust, respect, understanding, and interests,” said CPP in a statement released yesterday.
CPP also called for global partnership and joint international efforts in gathering resources, mutual support and assistance, and encouraged the countries around the world to take rapid and comprehensive actions with accountability and responsibility based on scientific means, solidarity and humanitarian spirit to end the pandemic and build a preparedness and response system to counter the spread of emerging and future pandemics.
CPP took the opportunity to extend its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives due to COVID-19 and its deepest sympathies to the infected patients. They Party commended all frontline health practitioners throughout the world for their sacrifice.
CPP spoke highly of China, South Korea, and Japan for having effectively prevented the spread of COVID-19, and thanked China for dispatching medical team and providing medical supplies to Cambodia, and Japan for donating medical protective equipment to Cambodia and other countries for the joint fight against the deadly virus.
Cambodia has so far recorded 98 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 38 Cambodians, 36 French, 12 Malaysians, 5 British, 2 Americans, 2 Indonesian, one Canadian, one Belgian, and one Chinese. Of them, 11 have recovered.
