NOCC President Extends Condolences on Mr. Jacques Rogge's Passing
AKP Phnom Penh, August 30, 2021 --
H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC), has extended his heartfelt condolences on the loss of Mr. Jacques Rogge, Former Eighth President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) 2001-2013 and Honorary President of IOC.
"We have lost an extraordinary and a passionate fan of sport whose selfless devotion have modernised and transformed the IOC," H.E. Thong Khon wrote in his condolence message today.
He added that under Mr. Jacques Rogge's wise leadership, the programmes of summer and winter Olympics have improved greatly while the Youth Olympic Games have given a new impetus to the entire Olympic movement.
Mr. Jacques Rogge will also be remembered as a man who have remarkably contributed to promoting clean sports, and fighting tirelessly against the evils of doping.
As a sign of respect, the Olympic flag at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia building will be flown at half-mast for five days to mourn the loss of an accomplished President, he continued.
Mr. Jacques Rogge passed away on Aug. 29 at the age of 79.
