AKP Phnom Penh, June 08, 2021 --
The Kingdom of Cambodia and the United States of America have lauded the fruitful outcomes of their bilateral cooperation in countering human trafficking.
The appreciation was made here yesterday afternoon in a meeting between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng and U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. W. Patrick Murphy.
On the occasion, Samdech Sar Kheng spoke highly of the recent visit to Cambodia by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State H.E. Ms. Wendy Ruth Sherman, saying that through the visit, the friendship and cooperation between the two nations will be further strengthened and expanded.
H.E. W. Patrick Murphy reaffirmed the U.S.’ commitment to working with Cambodian stakeholders to combat trafficking in persons. Human trafficking affects people in every country on earth, and the U.S. encourages stronger efforts in Cambodia to prosecute traffickers, protect victims, and prevent human trafficking crimes, he added.
The meeting also touched upon the cooperation in child protection, UN resolution implementation, and environmental protection.
