AKP Phnom Penh, March 10, 2021 --
Cambodia’s exports to the world’s biggest economy is on the rise, continuing its consecutive growth since last year, despite the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This reflects the strong demand of Cambodian products in the U.S. market.
Data from the U.S.’ Census Bureau showed that Cambodia exported US$580 million worth of goods to the U.S., an increase by 3.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
The two-way trade between the two nations rose by 5 percent to US$614 million in January 2021, according to the data.
Cambodia’s main goods exported to the U.S. were garment products, footwear and travel products, while the main products imported from the U.S. were vehicle, animal feeds, and machinery, etc.
The garment, footwear and bag exports to the U.S. have seen remarkable growth over the recent years.
H.E. Vongsey Vissoth, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, said in late January that Cambodian exports to the U.S. will likely continue to increase due to the latter’s economic recovery in 2021.
Last year, the two-way trade between Cambodia and the U.S. grew by 38 percent to US$5.8 billion, of which US$5.3 billion were Cambodian exports to the U.S.
