A total of 1,279,128 domestic tourists visited various tourism destinations across the country during the four-day New Year holiday, from Dec. 31, 2020 to Jan. 3, 2021, according to a report of the Ministry of Tourism released this morning.

Of them, 1,268,025 were national tourists and 11,103 were internal foreign visitors, it pointed out. 

The most visited destinations were Phnom Penh capital, followed by Kampot, Preah Sihanouk, Kep, Siem Reap, Kampong Speu, Battambang, Koh Kong, Kampong Cham, and Kandal provinces, underlined the source.

The report noted the application of preventive measures against COVID-19 at tourist attractions, while some others, especially those with more gatherings, did not fully comply with the measures.

It also lauded the good security and order during the mentioned period.
