Cambodian PM Calls on People Deceived by Opposition Group to Return Home
AKP Phnom Penh, November 14, 2019 --
Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has appealed to some of his compatriots who had been deceived by exiled politicians to come back home.
While presiding over the inauguration ceremony of a new cement plant in Kampot province this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the Royal Government would like to call on all those who had been deceived by some politicians, in self-imposed exile, and escaped to Thailand to return home.
Competent authorities at all levels will not take action against them anymore, affirmed the Premier.
“Please come back to (your) home in Cambodia, you are not guilty, you will not be arrested. Hun Sen has ordered all the sub-national administrations not to arrest those who have escaped to Thailand. Those who have arrest warrants, I call on the Ministry of Justice to order the prosecutor to withdraw or nullify those arrest warrants so that they can return home,” he stressed.
For those arrested, Samdech Techo Hun Sen asked the justice minister to work with the prosecutors and the court to release them on their own request or that of their respective lawyers or families because without a request we cannot release them.
According to the Premier, the move has to be taken in order to ensure national unification, and maintain peace and happiness for all citizens.
Some people had been arrested, while other escaped their home or went to Thailand to join an illegal plan of some exiled politicians who want to use the people power to overthrow the legitimate Royal Government of Cambodia on Nov. 9, 2019 when the country was commemorating the National Independence Day.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also took the opportunity to thank the competent authorities at all levels and supporters who love peace, solidarity, and unity, for their strong support to the legitimacy of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
