Cambodia, UN Discuss Preparations for High Level Political Forum

Cambodian and UN senior officials have met and discussed about the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in September 2019, said the Council for the Development of Cambodia in a press release.
The Cambodian side was led by H.E. Chhieng Yanara, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of the Cambodian Rehabilitation and Development Board of CDC, while the UN side was headed by Ms. Pauline Tamesis, United Nations Resident Coordinator.
The meeting, taking place in Phnom Penh on Aug. 8, touched upon follow-up actions of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) request made at the HLPF and preparations for the HLPF in September 2019.
During the meeting, pointed out the press release, the UN system agreed to provide support to RGC on 1) Institutional capacity development for statistics by strengthening the quality of data and capability of both the producers and the users of data, together with extra refreshed efforts to improve M&E systems and carry out institutional reforms. 2) Create Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) financing framework as a tool to do SDGS costing and financing.
According to the same source, achieving these priority works will enable the RGC to have adequate resources, data and capacity to monitor and evaluate the progress of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals effectively.
