Air Passenger Traffic Increases Remarkably in First Half of 2019

Cambodia’s three international airports experienced noticeable growth of passenger traffic in the first six months of this year, thanks to increasing flight connections across Asia, particularly with China.
According to the figures from VINCI Airports, the main shareholders of Cambodia Airports taking up about 70 percent of the share, the combined passenger traffic amounted to 6 million from January to June this year – 15.5 percent upturn compared to the same period last year.
The figure derives from combining all international and domestic passengers arriving to and departing from Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville international airports.
Phnom Penh International Airport handled 3.02 million passengers, with 15.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Sihanoukville International Airport, although handling with small number of passengers during the period, experienced strong growth rate of 210 percent (to 755,000 passengers), while Siem Reap International Airport handled 2.22 million passengers – a decrease of 4.8 percent.
In the first semester, the three airports received 56,346 commercial flights, suggesting 9.1 percent increase over the same period in the year before.
Last year, Cambodia Airports opened a new chapter of its history as the three international airports have peaked the 10-million passenger number.
