Cambodia, Saudi Arabia Reaffirm Commitment to Deepening Bilateral Ties and Religious Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, October 06, 2026 -- The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their mutual commitment to deepening bilateral relations, expanding economic and social development initiatives, and enhancing regional religious cooperation.
The commitment was highlighted during a bilateral meeting between H.E. Dr. Othsman Hassan, Senior Minister in Charge of Special Missions, and H.E. Sheikh Dr. Awad Sabti Al-Anazi, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs of Saudi Arabia, held at the Peace Palace on Oct. 5.
During the meeting, Senior Minister Othsman Hassan expressed his deepest gratitude to King Salman of Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and H.E. Dr. Abdullatif, Minister of Religious Affairs, for their continuous humanitarian assistance and high level of attention paid to Cambodia, particularly to the Muslim community.
The Senior Minister outlined numerous achievements and humanitarian aid that Cambodia has received from Saudi Arabia, including scholarships for Cambodian students, facilitation for performing the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, and donations of the Holy Quran, dates, and food packages through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre provided to displaced persons in Banteay Meanchey province and beyond.
For his part, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Awad Sabti Al-Anazi expressed his deep thanks and appreciation for the warm hospitality and excellent cooperation, marked by a high sense of responsibility, from the Cambodian side in organising and facilitating the smooth operation of the ASEAN Countries Conference ("Khair Ummah"). He expressed his delight and firm belief that this regional conference will bring many positive outcomes and fruitful results for Cambodian society and its people as a whole.
Furthermore, he highly praised the Royal Government of Cambodia for granting full rights and freedoms and establishing excellent racial and religious harmony, which serves as a model in the region.
He reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia considers supporting Islamic communities and vulnerable people worldwide a primary duty, and confirmed that Saudi Arabia will continue its humanitarian and development work with Cambodia.
