Kampong Cham’s ‘Bek Anloung Durian’ Granted Official Collective Mark Status

The Ministry of Commerce has officially registered the durian variety from Bek Anloung village in Kampong Cham province as a Collective Mark.
The registration recognises “Bek Anloung Durian” as a protected community brand, the Ministry said, calling it a key step to strengthen intellectual property protection, raise product value, and enhance the reputation of Cambodian agricultural goods domestically and abroad.
“The registration of this collective mark will contribute to enhancing market competitiveness, increasing consumer confidence, and supporting the livelihoods of the community of durian producers and traders in Kampong Cham province,” stated the Ministry in an announcement issued on Sunday.
The move follows the recent formal establishment of the Bek Anloung Durian Producers and Traders Community by an agricultural cooperative in Kampong Cham province’s Stung Trang district.
H.E. Un Chanda, Governor of Kampong Cham province, congratulated the formal registration.
“The registration is a campaign in line with the Royal Government's policy to promote sustainable agricultural development, increase the added value of local products, and strengthen the presence of Cambodian products in the international market,” he said.
Cambodian collective marks already registered include Phnom Penh Kuy Teav, Preah Vihear rice, Kampong Thom Ambok, SKO fragrant rice, DSMK sticky rice, Siem Reap Nom Banh Chok (Khmer Noodle), Koh Trong Pomelo, Battambang coconut, Kandal silver and copper handicrafts, and Cambodian swiftlet nests.
