40 Arrested as Cambodian Forces Storm Sihanoukville Cybercrime Warehouse

Cambodian law enforcement authorities have busted a major online scam operation in the coastal city of Sihanoukville, arresting 40 suspects and seizing substantial technical equipment, local authorities reported Tuesday.
The operation, launched on Monday by the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administrative Unity Command, targeted a warehouse facility located in Village 1, Sangkat 1 of Sihanoukville.
The raid was led by Preah Sihanouk Deputy Governor Min Kompheak and coordinated alongside representatives from the Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
According to official reports, the joint task force apprehended 40 suspects, including 36 Chinese nationals (one woman) and four Cambodian nationals (all women).
Police also confiscated an array of electronic devices used to facilitate the fraudulent activities, including: 121 mobile phones; 32 laptop computers; 26 desktop computers.
The suspects and the seized evidence have been transferred to the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police Commissioner’s Office for interrogation. Authorities are currently preparing legal case files to forward the individuals to the provincial court for prosecution.
Local administrative unity commands in Sihanoukville and neighbouring Kampong Som city stated that they are intensifying open administrative investigations into suspected locations across the region. Officials reiterated their commitment to sustaining these targeted crackdowns to completely eradicate cyber-enabled fraud operations within Preah Sihanouk province.
