Prime Minister Thanks All Stakeholders for Safe, Joyful Khmer New Year Celebrations
AKP Phnom Penh, April 17, 2026 --
Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed gratitude to all relevant institutions and individuals whose efforts helped ensure that this year’s Khmer New Year celebrations were held in a joyful, peaceful, and safe atmosphere nationwide.
In a message posted on social media Friday morning, the Prime Minister said the traditional holiday had proceeded smoothly, marked by smiles, family reunions, religious ceremonies, traditional games, and cultural performances across Phnom Penh and all provinces.
He thanked provincial and municipal authorities, national working groups, ministries, institutions, and security forces for carrying out their duties and helping provide safety and public order for citizens and tourists during the celebrations.
Samdech Thipadei also extended appreciation to the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), volunteers, sanitation workers, environmental staff, drivers, and other support teams who contributed to organising Sankranta events in Phnom Penh and throughout the country.
He said their participation helped promote Khmer culture, preserve national identity, and bring happiness to families during the holiday period.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to members of the armed forces stationed across the country and to displaced citizens staying in temporary shelters arranged by the Royal Government.
As the holiday period concludes, he urged citizens travelling back to workplaces and hometowns to do so safely and to strictly observe traffic laws. He also noted that Phnom Penh municipal buses continue to provide free public transport services to help reduce travel costs and improve safety.
