Japan Grants Over US$177,000 for Infrastructure Development in Cambodia’s Two Provinces

AKP Phnom Penh, March 31, 2016 —

The Government of Japan has decided to provide a financial assistance of some US$177,821 to Cambodia to support two infrastructure development projects in the provinces of Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear.

The grant contract was signed here early this week between H.E. Kumamaru Yuji, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia, and representatives of the Public Works and Transport Departments of the two provinces.

Of the total fund, some US$90,350 will be used for the construction of a 15-meter-long concrete bridge in Samrong district, Oddar Meanchey province, while the remaining (US$87,471) for the improvement of a 4,000-meter-long dirt road and six sewers in Chhep district, Preah Vihear province.

The grant aid is made under Japan’s economic cooperation framework, the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (KUSASONE Grant).
