Cambodian Youth Delegation Attends 19th World Festival of Youth and Students in Russia

AKP Phnom Penh, October 20, 2017 —

A 10-member group of Cambodian youths from different institutions have been on a visit in Russia from Oct. 13 to 23 to attend the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students being held in Sochi.

According to Ministry of Environment’s news release, those Cambodian youth delegates are from the Ministry of Environment, Office of the Council of Ministers, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of Mines and Energy, Electricity Authority of Cambodia, and Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia.

There are 5,000 volunteers, 12,576 Russian youth, and 12,638 foreign youth from 185 countries, including Cambodia attending this world event.

The World Festival of Youth and Students has been held since 1947. Twice – in 1957 and 1985 – the event took place in Moscow. The purpose of the festival is to bring together the youth of the world community around the idea of justice, the strengthening of international relations, and the development of inter-ethnic and intercultural relations.
