Secretary of State for Commerce Receives Romanian Chargé d’Affaires

Cambodian Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce H.E. Ms. Tekreth Kamrang held talks here on Wednesday at the ministry office with H.E. Valeriu Arteni, Romanian Chargé d’Affaires to Cambodia residing in Hanoi, Vietnam.
In the meeting, both sides discussed the strengthening of trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries, said the Ministry of Commerce in a news release.
H.E. Mrs. Tekreth Kamrang encouraged the two countries to set up a mechanism to promote trade, investment and economic cooperation in order to increase trade volume and enhance communication.
She also urged Romania to import more goods from Cambodia, especially agricultural products including rice and pepper, and welcomed all investments from Romania.
For his part, H.E. Valeriu Arteni highlighted that Romania is specialising in oil and gas. Romania is committed to provide scholarship to Cambodian students to take post-graduation courses in oil and gas field, added the chargé d’affaires, inviting Cambodian private sector to attend the upcoming international exhibitions on tourism and consumer goods in the near future.
According to the current trade statistics, Cambodia exported rice, pepper, garment and textiles, steel sitting, footwear, and bicycles to Romania worth about US$6 million and imported less than US$1 million worth of goods from Romania.
