DPM Sar Kheng Orders an Assurance of Violence-Free Local Election
AKP Phnom Penh, February 17, 2017 —
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng has ordered competent authorities in all capital and provinces to ensure violence-free environment during the upcoming Commune/Sangkat Council Election.
Samdech Sar Kheng gave the command when presiding over a recent certificate handover ceremony to police officials who successfully completed a capacity building course at the Police Academy of Cambodia in Kandal province.
All police forces, underlined the DPM, need to serious action necessary to prevent any activities masterminded to impede the local election.
He also appreciated the achievements and hard work of all competent police officials so far, especially in ensuring peace and stability during the 2013 national election.
Cambodia will go to the polls to elect the commune/Sangkat councilors on June 4, 2017 and eight million eligible voters have been registered by the National Election Committee.
