New Forecast Says Cambodia’s Economic Growth Remains Strong
AKP Phnom Penh, January 11, 2017 –
Cambodia’s economic growth will remain strong at 6.9 percent this year and next year, according to the World Bank’s Global Economic Prospects: Weak Investment in Uncertain Time report released yesterday.
The economic growth this year is at the same rate as Myanmar and the Philippines, but slightly below that of Lao PDR (7 percent), it pointed out.
According to the report, Lao PDR’s economy is predicted to grow at 7 percent in 2017 and 6.8 percent in 2018; Myanmar, at 6.9 percent and 7.2 percent; Indonesia, at 5.3 percent and 5.5 percent; Malaysia, at 4.3 percent and 4.5 percent; the Philippines, at 6.9 percent and 7 percent; Thailand, at 3.2 percent and 3.3 percent; and Vietnam, at 6.3 percent both this year and next year.
