Cambodia, Vietnam Strengthen Security Cooperation
AKP Phnom Penh, January 11, 2017 –
Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, paid courtesy calls on H.E. Tran Dai Quang, President and H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in Hanoi on Monday during his three-day visit in the country, reported Vietnam News Agency (VNA).
During the separate meetings, the Vietnamese leaders lauded the effective collaboration between Vietnam’s Public Security Ministry and Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior as well as their cooperation plan for 2017.
H.E. Tran Dai Quang said that the two ministries’ thriving ties reflected the comprehensive and effective affiliation between Vietnam and Cambodia in protecting the national security and social order and safety in each country, contributing to strengthening peace and stability in the region and the world, while H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc encouraged the public security forces of the two countries to increase all-level delegation exchanges as well as to maintain and promote the existing cooperation mechanisms.
The Vietnamese leaders also spoke highly of Cambodian Government’s consistent policy of not allowing any hostile forces to use its territory to harm peace, security and stability of other countries, and any extremist forces to incite national enmity.
They thanked Cambodia for her support in the past struggle for independence as well as the current national construction. They appreciated Cambodia’s support for Vietnamese people in the Kingdom to stabilise their lives, as well as her cooperation in border demarcation and border marker planting, thus building a shared borderline of peace, stability and friendship.
For his part, Samdech Sar Kheng expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation between the Cambodian Ministry of Interior and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, stressing that the two sides have collaborated in ensuring a shared border of peace, security, friendship and cooperation.
The Cambodian DPM went on to say that in order to implement cooperation between the two countries more effectively, Cambodia has planned to hold a conference on the development of localities along the Cambodia-Vietnam. At present, Cambodia is discussing the idea with Vietnam, he added.
Samdech Sar Kheng took the opportunity to thank the Vietnamese side for its assistance and support for the liberation, reconstruction and development of Cambodia.
On the same day, Samdech Sar Kheng also held talks with H.E. To Lam, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, during which both sides highly valued the cooperation between the two ministries last year, and hoped that their ties will continue growing toward practical outcomes in ensuring security for both nations.
On the occasion, the two ministers signed a minutes on cooperation between their agencies for 2017.
