ECCC Begins Its Initial Hearing On Case 002

The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) begins its initial hearing on Case 002 from June 27 to July 1 for former top leaders of Democratic Kampuchea (DK) (or commonly known as Khmer Rouge).

The four DK leaders include Khieu Samphan, 79, Chairman of the State Presidium; Brother No. 2 Noun Chea, 84, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party and Chairman of the National Assembly; Ieng Sary, 85, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and his wife, Ieng Thirith, 79, Minister of Social Actions.
