Cambodian Prime Minister Meets Vietnamese Leaders

Cambodia’s Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen paid separate courtesy calls on Vietnam’s National Assembly President H.E. Nguyen Sinh Hung, President H.E. Truong Tan Sang, and Party General Secretary H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, on Dec. 26 in Hanoi, during his three-day official visit in Vietnam.
In the meetings, both sides expressed their satisfaction with the close ties of friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring countries which have been strengthened and expanded from one day to another, National Television of Cambodia (TVK) reported.
The Vietnamese leaders congratulated the Cambodian People’s Party on its victory in the recent parliamentary elections which were held in a free, fair and acceptable manner, and Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his re-election as Prime Minister of Cambodia.
They also conveyed their best wishes to His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, Her Majesty Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Thamma Pothisal Chea Sim, National Assembly President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin and other Cambodian leaders.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked the Vietnamese side for its warm hospitality and praised Vietnam for its development in all domains. He also expressed his profound thanks to Vietnam for its support to Cambodia so far.
The Cambodian premier further suggested the visit exchange between both countries’ youths so as to build closer ties between them.
Earlier on the same day, Samdech Techo Hun Sen also held bilateral talks with Vietnamese Prime Minister H.E. Nguyen Tan Dung. Both sides were committed to raise the two-way trade up to US$5 billion by 2015. After that, the two premiers witnessed the signing ceremony of nine cooperation agreements related to bilateral trade enhancement, extradition, physical infrastructure construction, education, information, security and so on.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen and his entourage arrived yesterday in Hanoi for a three-day official visit in Vietnam, at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister H.E. Nguyen Tan Dung.
Cambodia and Vietnam established their diplomatic ties on June 24, 1967.
