ASEAN, India To Organize ASEAN-India Friendship Car Rally in December

ASEAN and India are planning to organize the “ASEAN-India Friendship Car Rally” from Nov. 27 to Dec. 21.

The event is aimed to tighten the cooperation; improve knowledge on trade, economy, culture and tourism; and to further closely link transportation between India and ASEAN, H.E. Hor Sarun, Undersecretary of State for Tourism said here recently during an inter-ministerial meeting.

There will be between 30 and 40 vehicles to be provided by India with two each to eight ASEAN member countries including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The race will start from Indonesia and cross Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia to Vietnam, Myanmar and India, he said.

H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, called the event a tournament of tourism event, which will promote a unity and attract more tourists from the ASEAN region and India.

In 2004, such ASEAN-India Friendship Car Rally was held successfully, he added.
