Prudential To Invest in Cambodia

AKP Phnom Penh, June 29, 2012 –

Prudential, a United Kingdom-based financial services group yesterday got a principal agreement from the Cambodian Ministry of Economy and Finance for its investment in life insurance services in Cambodia.

H.E. Keat Chhon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance told H.E. Mark Gooding, Ambassador of UK to Cambodia in a meeting here this morning, according to a ministry’s senior official.

Prudential has decided to invest in Cambodia after its success in Vietnam, he added.

The Prudential is the third company investing in life insurance services in Cambodia, after Manulife, a Canada’s leading insurer that launched its life insurance services here yesterday, and Cambodian Life,a joint venture between Cambodia’s Ministry of Economy and Finance with 51 percent share and four other foreign investor partners including PT Asuransi Central Asia of Indonesia, Asia Insurance Company Limited of Hong Kong, Bangkok Life Assurance Public Company Limited of Thailand and Bangkok Insurance Public Company Limited of Thailand.

Cambodia welcomed all investors, both local and foreign, including the British investors, affirmed H.E. Keat Chhon on the occasion.
