NA President Meets New U.S. Ambassador

AKP Phnom Penh, June 16, 2012 – 

Cambodian President of the National Assembly, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, received here yesterday newly-appointed U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. William E. Todd. 

In the meeting, the U.S.diplomat pledged to do his utmost to further boost the bilateral ties and cooperation, and appreciated the process of the recent Commune/Sangkat Council Election.

H.E. William E. Todd also informed the NA president of the bilateral meeting between Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Hor Namhong and U.S. Secretary of State H.E. Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton in Washington. 

For his part, Samdech Heng Samrin warmly welcomed and expressed his support to H.E. Todd’s diplomatic mission to Cambodia. He was convinced that the new U.S. ambassador will continue the good cooperation with the Cambodian legislative and executive bodies and government agencies so as to further strengthen the solidarity, the ties of friendship between the two peoples and countries. 

Samdech Heng Samrin expressed his satisfaction with the growing cooperation between both countries, especially in the fields of politics, foreign affairs, military, trade, education, health and mine clearance, and he profoundly thanked the U.S. government and people for their support to the development of Cambodia.
