China Vows to Boost Rice Sector in Cambodia

AKP Phnom Penh, June 06, 2012 –

The People’s Republic of China has vowed to provide low-interest loans to Cambodia to boost Cambodia’s rice sector promotion, while Cambodia’s Rural Development Bank has agreed to provide US$10 million in loan to Alliance of Rice Producers and Exporters of Cambodia (ARPEC).

ARPEC Secretary-General Mr. Hun Lak said here on Monday that China has agreed to help Cambodia in boosting its rice sector through the establishment of rice processing mills and the provision of low-interest loans.

The loan from the Rural Development Bank will be used to buy rice to be processed for export to foreign markets.
