ASEAN Defense Ministers Visit NPMEC

AKP Phnom Penh, May 31, 2012 –

The ASEAN defense ministers on May 29 visited Cambodia’s National Center for Peacekeeping Forces, Mines and ERW (Explosive Remnants of War) Clearance at Oudong in Kampong Speu province.

During the visit, Lieutenant General Sem Sovanny, Director-General of the NPMEC, briefed the ASEAN defense ministers on the NPMEC’s activities and followed by the demonstration of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) on landmine clearance and peacekeeping operation as well as humanitarian and rescue activities.

The delegation of ASEAN defense ministers was led by Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Gen. Tea Banh, Minister of National Defense and Chair of the 6th ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting.
