Nidec Electronics (Thailand) Establishes HDD Component Plant in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, May 31, 2012 –
Nidec Electronics (Thailand), a subsidiary of Nidec Corporation, announced the establishment of a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) component plant in Poipet City of Banteay Meanchey, a northwestern province in Cambodia, and the production is expected to start in June this year, said on Monday a press release from the Kyoto-based Nidec Corporation.
According to the press release, named SC WADO (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., the new base plate manufacturing subsidiary was established in March 2012 with a total investment of approximately 1 billion Yen (over US$12.5 million). It is expected to increase to 3 billion Yen (about US$38 million) for the next two years.
The plant will begin its production in June 2012 with 350 workers, then 1,500 workers in 2013, and 5,000 workers in 2014, it added.
