Rice Exporter: Cambodia Seeks More Emerging Rice Markets

Oknha Lim Bun Heng, President of Cambodian Rice Export Association (CREA) and CEO of LAURAN Group Plc. said Cambodian rice is exploring new emerging markets in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

“Currently, we have a lot of successes in the EU and U.S. markets, and in the first quarter of the year, we are exploring new emerging markets in three destinations, including Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia,” he said.

According to Oknha Lim Bun Heng, the rice price reached currently between US$930 and US$960 per ton, but in the beginning of the year it was a little bit down.

The Ministry of Commerce said from January to March 2012, the Cambodian rice export volume rose to US$27.1 million, up from US$14.1 million in the same period last year.
