Cambodian Cabinet Approves Two Draft Sub-Decrees and a Draft Royal Decree

AKP Phnom Penh, April 28, 2012 – 

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, the Cambodian weekly Cabinet Meeting approved on Friday a draft sub-decree on the general process of transferring functions and resources to sub-national levels. 

The four-chapter of 38-article draft sub-decree focuses on the transferring of functions and resources from the ministries, institutions and authorities at all levels to the sub-national administrations and between the sub-national administrations themselves, according to a news release of the Press and Quick Reaction Unit of the Office of the Council of Ministers issued after the meeting.   

The Cabinet Meeting also passed the draft royal decree on the establishment of the Committee on Land Management and Urban Planning at the national level and the draft sub-decree on the establishment of the above-said committee at the capital, provincial, city, district, khan level, it said.   

The two drafts have been drawn up based on the law on capital, provincial, city, district, khan administrative management and the national policy on land management of the Royal Government of Cambodia adopted in April 2011, underlined the news release. 

The meeting further approved to submit the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Convention on the procedures of providing pre-information on the hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in the International Trade to the legislative body for ratification.    

In the meeting, the Cambodian premier also warned to revoke the economic land concession license from any company that violate the contract, norms and principles.   

Samdech Techo Hun Sen advised the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Environment to follow the issue.
