Cambodian Premier Receives Separately ADB President and Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister
AKPPhnom Penh, March 30, 2012 –
Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen this morning received Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda, President of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, respectively.
During the talks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen informed the ADB president of the country’s problems for the infrastructure being linked to the other countries in the region, H.E. Ieng Sophalet, Assistant to the Cambodian premier told reporters following the meeting. Samdech Techo Hun Sen also elaborated on the importance of poverty reduction and economic growth, he added.
For his part, Mr. Haruhiko Kuroda higly appreciated the fast development in Cambodia. The 7-percent economic growth is a sign of strong economic development in the country, the assistant said.
In the discussion with H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the Cambodian prime minister expressed concerns over the challenges between the older and newer members of ASEAN, he said.
