One Window One Service for Milled Rice Exporting To be Established
AKP Phnom Penh, December 29, 2011 –
One window one service office for milled rice exporting will be established to facilitate for milled rice exporters.
The commitment was made known here recently in a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Keat Chhon, Minister of Economy and Finance to dicscuss on the setting up of a mechanism to establish one window one service.
H.E. Keat Chhon said that establishing one window one service or one roof is not only facilitate the rice exporters in filling applications but will also boost Cambodia’s milled rice to compete in foreign markets in order to reach the target of at least one million ton of milled rice export in 2015.
In 2010, the royal government of Cambodia established supporting and agricultural development fund with some US$36.5 million to provide short, medium and long term to Cambodia’s rice millers and some companies to implement the royal government of Cambodia’s policy on rice production promotion and milled rice exporting as well.
The total milled rice export in the first 11 month of 2011 reached 149,000 tons or roughly worth US$87 million, Minister of Commerce in its monthly report.
H.E. Mao Thora, Secretary of State of Commerce Ministry said recently that Cambodia expects to export around 180,000 tons this year.
Last year the total milled rice export was only 131,400 tons and mostly to EU markets.
