Minister of Agriculture Receives ADB Country Representative

Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries H.E. Veng Sakhon received here yesterday afternoon the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Representative Mr. Samiuela T. Tukuafu, according to the ministry’s news release.
In the meeting, H.E. Veng Sakhon informed his guest of the Royal Government of Cambodia’s policy to boost agricultural products for market and export, not for food security anymore. He also highlighted the ministry’s commitment to promote the production of foods with quality and safety.
H.E. Minister took the opportunity to thank ADB for its support to the Cambodian agricultural sector so far.
For his part, Mr. Samiuela T. Tukuafu underlined the fruitful cooperation between ADB and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), and briefed H.E. Veng Sakhon on a new cooperation project for 2018-2020 focusing on rice trading and agro-trade chain.
Following on the same day, the MAFF minister also held talks with Mr. Li An, Economic and Trade Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy to Cambodia. The meeting touched mainly on the laboratory for agricultural product quality and safety control at Prek Leap National School of Agriculture, Phnom Penh, which was already established, but not yet operated, and the plan to create a laboratory for animal health control.
