EU Reaffirms Continued Support to Decentralisation and Deconcentration Reform in Cambodia
AKP Phnom Penh, April 21, 2017 –
The European Union (EU) will continue to support the decentralisation and deconcentration reform process in Cambodia, reaffirmed EU Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. George Edgar, during a meeting here on April 19 wih Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng.
On the occasion, H.E. George Edgar informed Samdech Sar Kheng of his visit to Battambang, a northwestern province of Cambodia, to learn about the process of function transfer in the framework of this decentralisation and deconcentration reform, and lauded the progress in this process.
In reply, Samdech Sar Kheng expressed his gratitude to the EU for its assistance to Cambodia in the decentralisation and deconcentration reform process so far, mentioning some major challenges to the process such as lack of human resources at sub-national level as well as limited financial resources.
